NYC Mayor Issues Statement on Syrian Refugees, Addresses Trump And Christie

debThe following is via Breaking911.com:

Mayor de Blasio today released a series of statements on Syrian refugees, comments made by Governor Chris Christie and Donald Trump, and Muslim-Americans and Muslims living in New York City.

Statement from Mayor de Blasio on Syrian refugees:

“We should not close our borders to any group of people fleeing the atrocities and horrors of terrorism. To do so is to hand terrorists a victory over our democracy, strengthened over the years by Americans who died or risked their lives for it. We are a strong country. We can protect our country with the appropriate and intensive screening and accept refugees seeking our protection at the same time. New York City is a proud immigrant city, and we will not turn our back on that history or the people being persecuted and fleeing war.”

Statement from Mayor de Blasio on comments made by Governor Chris Christie:

“Because Chris Christie is an elected official, his comment is an embarrassment to this country. If he were in any other profession, it would be dismissed out of hand for the callous, heartless and prejudiced statement that it is.”

Statement from Mayor de Blasio on comments made by presidential candidate Donald Trump:

“First and foremost, we always will abide by the U.S. Constitution which prohibits discrimination against religions. We will adhere to the words of our Founding Fathers, not Donald Trump. Mosques don’t commit acts of terrorism. People do. NYPD will investigate the crime, not close down places of worship. Finally, NYPD is recognized today as having the top anti-terrorism unit in the world. Our anti-terrorism efforts continue to evolve and improve as we’ve become more knowledgeable about activities across the globe.”

Statement from Mayor de Blasio on Muslim-Americans and Muslims living in New York City:

“Muslim New Yorkers are a crucial ally in the fight against terrorism. ISIS does not discriminate and has killed members of many races and religion. The Muslim community is as deeply concerned about terrorism as other communities are. NYPD investigates the crime, not a group of people. That will not change.”

  1. I beg to differ with our esteemed Mayor.
The Constitution was originally set up by our founding fathers to protect our country and its citizens. And that is what our President and other elected officials should put as their first priority. It is very nice to be able to help others, including refugees from oppression and terrorism. But an eye needs to be kept on what the priority is. And if allowing foreigners into the country jeopardizes the welfare of our citizens in general, and even more so our natural born Americans, than it should not be allowed.
Unfortunately our liberal officials and lawmakers have taken the banner of Democracy a bit too far, and in so doing they are forgetting the main purpose of our Democracy and catering to what should be considered no more than a secondary, hopeful outcome.
During the WWII and pre-WWII era, there were restrictions on immigration, to protect our country from overpopulation, and from an economic crisis. It was a known fact that the would be immigrants were being gassed, burned, shot, and slaughtered, yet our country refused them entry, with far less justification than there is in today’s situation. The essence of none of them was to destroy Democracy, our country, or our people. And while it is granted that not all perspective Moslem immigrants are terrorists, some and perhaps many are, as proven by 9/11 and many other terror incidents.
Our first priority must be the safety of those already US citizens and those born US citizens.

  2. This is not a refugee crisis; this is a mass invasion. If we want to save these “refugees” we could set up a protected area in their country and protect them there, not here.
If he thinks this is not in keeping with the history of this country he could look at what was done during WWII, with Jewish refugees being turned back to Germany, and with Japanese Americans being interned in camps.

  3. There is no reason comparison between the 1940s and now. The Jews never were a threat to the people of the US, many people coming from Syria are.

Instead of bringing them here, setup refugee camps in Syria, and protect them there.

The US could have finished off Isis, but it chose -for political reasons- not to. Now they are all over the place, perhaps they are already here in the US g-d forbid, we cannot bring in more.

Vetting will not work, and just taking in women and children is also not safe, as Muslims have a good proven record, when It comes to the jihad/scuicide bombers, women are fear game. Can u believe them if they say they are non Muslims? They are killers, and the truth is what fits to the jihad.

Besides: Obama admin have the worst record of vetting.

And who could trust Obam and his gang of Libs? They are sick people, the whole world is on fire, Syria is full of terror camps, Russia and France are at least playing the game of pretend. But Kerry and Obama are saying “we are weeks away from a ceasefire” these people are truly sick individuals, who have no problem putting millions in danger if it fits their political narrative.

    One word EVIL!!!
