Ben-Gurion Airport Permits Flights to Move Up Schedule to Avoid Strike – Strike Updates


elalAt this time, it appears the public sector general strike set to begin at 06:00 on Wednesday morning 11 Teves is going to take place.

At the nation’s main international airport, Ben-Gurion, some flights will take off ahead of schedule to permit the departing flights to leave before the strike begins. Travelers are urged to contact the airport, their airline and/or travel agent.

Hospitals in many cities advise patients scheduled for elective surgery and all outpatient services to check with the hospital prior to coming. Many procedures will be canceled and outpatient clinics closed.

In the sphere of EMS, Ichud Hatzalah has sent a message to its 2,500 volunteers nationwide to be on high alert as it was reported Magen David Adom will be taking part in the strike, operating on a Shabbos schedule. However, MDA Spokesman Zaki Heller reported a short time ago that MDA Chief of Operations Eli Bin spoke with the head of the union, asking him not to compromise the EMS system. His request was received and Bin reports MDA will be operating on a regular schedule.

Efforts to avoid the strike are ongoing at this time, Tuesday evening.
