Israel: Man Tries Selling his Baby to Cover Debts


arrestIsrael Police on Thursday, 12 Teves, announce the arrest of a man who tried selling his baby to undercover police in the hope of using the money to get out of debt. Undercover police were cleared to ‘buy’ the 3-month-old baby girl from the 27-year-old Jerusalem resident.

The buyer and seller finally met on Wednesday, 11 Teves following negotiations. The buyer, the undercover policeman, was supposed to give the seller an advance to lock the deal. After the cash changed hands the arrest was made.

It appears the young father is seriously in debt due to gambling debts, and was R”L willing to sell his daughter.

The case was handed over to city social services officials. The father’s remand was extended for a week. The mother was released from jail with restrictions. The child is now in the custody of social services.

  1. The Israeli police are so insensitive and callous about people, it’s sickening. Any sane or half sober person can guarantee that the mother didn’t willingly go along with this sick dad. Why is she in trouble?!?!?
