Former Jerusalem Police Chief: Homes of Terrorists Must be Blown Up, Not Demolished

mleMK (Yesh Atid) Mickey Levy, who is a former Jerusalem Police Chief, on Wednesday, 24 Shevat called for a change in government policy, to detonate the homes of terrorists rather than just razing them.

Levy posted his comments to Facebook following the shooting/stabbing attack at Shar Shechem earlier in the day, which claimed the life of 19-year-old border policewoman Hadar Cohen HY”D.

In his post he commended the actions of the border police, who he feels prevented a much larger and more serious attack. He then addressed what he believes to be an escalation in the terrorism, demanding the government to respond more decisively. He called on the cabinet to stop returning the bodies of terrorists for burial for the funerals serve as additional incitement and fuel for the next terror attack.

He calls for blowing up the homes of terrorists within 48 hours instead of razing them, and revoking their Israeli identity cards for those who have them, and to deport their families.

Levy added that at some time in the future we can ask how we got into this mess but this is not the time.

  1. With all due respect for your service, Mr. Levy: NOW YOU ARE TALKING?! And as a matter of fact, yes this IS the time to talk about how we got into this mess. A long time ago was the time to talk about it. Where is the legendary (mythical??) new level of security withing the Old City Walls and at its gates and periphery? We all know these goons are in there, with their hordes of illegal weaponry. Those poor police women were outnumbered and should have had backup. What loving Israeli Jewish mother will be ok now, with her daughter or son taking positions of service in these places without better assurance! There is the new danger of people on the force refusing to accept these posts, I worry. It wasn’t an exceptional enough occurrence to excuse it!
And while I’m at it: razing the house, imploding the house – whatever, one way is noisier, the other way gives a little parnassah to the bulldozer guys. I think it would be way more important to actually propose a bill that classifies these terrorist crimes as acts of war, which – let’s face it – they are. Then any terrorist not fortunate enough to get to Paradise via Bullet Express at the scene of the crime gets a fate a bit worse than an ordinary arrest, fair trial, jail time, eventually swap…He is now a prisoner of war. I think reprisals should not be feared any more than they are already, because this is already the status on the other side. The Govt’s of the terrorist support their acts legally, monetarily and morally. That would include their nefarious kidnap plots and withholding of Israeli bodies. So all’s already fair – c’est le guerre.
