Eli Yishai: I Hope Deri Will be Cleared of All Suspicions

yiderFormer Shas party leader Eli Yishai commented on the ongoing investigation against political rival Aryeh Deri. Yishai made his comments at a pre-Pesach event for his Yachad party, stating he hopes the investigation will prove Deri innocent.

He made a point of saying “I never have or will gloat chas v’sholom” in response to the criminal investigation against the current Shas party leader. Yishai stated that while he and Deri have their political differences, they remain “brothers and human beings” on the personal level.

  1. “Yishai made his comments at a pre-Pesach event for his Yachad party.” Which is what we see in the accompanying photo, right? I am pleased and heartened by Reb Eli Yishai’s candor, good nature, and integrity. But there is no Yachad party in existence, except perhaps as some legal entity that might (and I hope not!) owe money to a few banks. The photo is a scene from bygone, probably happier days, but has nothing to do with any hypothetical Yachad party. Didn’t YWN report a while back that he was talking to Kachalon about joining his party? Something that I very much hope isn’t true.
