Finance Minister Kahlon Will Not Join Opposition To Lieberman

1Kulanu party head, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon took part in a faction meeting on Thursday, 11 Iyar addressing the likelihood of Yisrael Beitenu entering the coalition government. Kahlon told party colleagues that he rejects those who feel Lieberman is not suited to serve as Defense Minister. He added that immediately after the coalition was formed he began working to expand it and this included bringing in Yisrael Beitenu.

Kahlon explained how difficult it is to maintain a coalition of 61, with only a one-seat majority and while he hoped for a larger coalition he has learned to work with current realities. He expressed opposition to those seeking to disqualify the expected appointment, adding the coalition is committed to protect law and order and adhere to rulings of the High Court of Justice and remains confident it will continue doing just that.

Regarding the future of Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, Kahlon stated he hopes Ya’alon will fill another senior post, wishing him continued success in his ongoing efforts towards safeguarding Israel’s security.
