The well-known roshei teivos for Tammuz were presented to HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita and the rav responded with roshei teivos of his own.

The rav was shown the standard roshei teivos, ?’??? ?’???? ?’?????? ?’????, hinting for us that the days of judgment, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are approaching.

Rav Kanievsky responded, “If you wish, here are roshei teivos; ?’???? ?’?? ?’???? ?’, meaning each of the seven days of the week should be busied with limud Torah, including this year”.

In “Divrei Siach” which haven’t yet been published, Rav Kanievsky is quoted explaining that Tammuz is the name of an Avoda Zara, as it is written in Yechezkiel 88 ‘???? ?? ????? ????? ?? ?????’ and the reason for Tammuz is on the 17th a ‘tzelem’ was placed in the Heichal as per Taanis 26:b.

Av is a loshon of tanchumim, as it is written ‘?????? ????? ???? ??’ and ‘???? ???? ???’, meaning to say HKBH will be menachem Am Yisrael.
