It’s almost Rosh Hashanah and thousands of Magen David Adom volunteers around Israel are out collecting food for the needy as they do annually. Under MDA’s “Wine & Honey” project, volunteers work hard to fill thousands of cartons with food for the upcoming Yomim Tovim to assist families in need.
The two-week project end on Thursday, 26 Elul, after which all efforts are concentrated on distributing the cartons before Rosh Hashanah. MDA volunteers are out in the streets between 15:00-21:00, seen often in shopping centers and supermarkets in their familiar uniforms.
Persons entering a supermarket seeing the volunteers are asked to purchase a few extra non-perishable items to drop in the box at checkout such as grape juice, canned goods, oil, sugar, spreads, jams, cakes, cookies, coffee, Turkish coffee, drinks and more.
