Annual Zichron Yaakov Erev Yom Kippur Blood Drive


4On Tuesday 9 Tishrei, erev Yom Kippur 5777, the 21st annual Zichron Yaakov blood drive will be held towards filling the annual blood shortage that occurs this time of year, during the Tishrei Yomim Tovim, when most do not have time or think of donating blood.

Thousands of units of blood were collected in the 20 years of this modest event, which have saved and assisted many lives in the span of two decades. Mr. Shmuel Redlich, who stands behind the annual event calls on all residents of Zichron Yaakov capable of donating blood to do so. Residents of nearby communities are of course invited to join in as well.

The event will take place on Tuesday between 8:00AM and 2:00PM in a number of locations. Mobile blood donation vehicles will be stationed throughout the city including on the ‘Midrachov’ pedestrian mall. Other blood donation vehicles will be stations on Derch Sara Street in the HaShmura neighborhood and at the Mul-Zichron shopping center.

Last year the donations reached a record high of 290 units, with 187 coming from men and 103 from women.
