Most view the fact that the Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita HaGaon HaRav Yisrael Hager called to meet with Agudas Yisrael MKs as significant. The rebbe took time from his busy schedule to meet with members of the chassidish faction of Yahadut Hatorah to discuss the critical nationwide housing shortage. The meeting took place on Wednesday evening 24 Tishrei.

It is reported it was clear to all present just how much the rebbe is concerned over the housing issue, amid an awareness new couples do not have affordable housing options, with many living in storage rooms or other makeshift living alternatives.

The rebbe instructed the MKs that something must be done to address the shortage in the chareidi community. Health Minister Yaakov Litzman told Kol Chai Radio on Thursday morning that in essence, the meeting with the rebbe was a continuation of the Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah meeting that was held a number of weeks ago. He added that efforts are underway to enlist the coalition of Degel Hatorah and Shas towards working as a united chareidi front in the coalition.
