LAPD Chief: Police Won’t Help Deport Immigrants Under Trump

beckLos Angeles police chief Charlie Beck says President-elect Donald Trump’s vows to deport millions after taking office will not affect his department’s longstanding policy of staying out of immigration issues.

Beck told the Los Angeles Times on Monday that his officers are “not going to engage in law enforcement activities solely based on somebody’s immigration status.”

Beck says it is not the LAPD’s job to work in conjunction on deportation with Homeland Security, and that’s not going to change.

It has been department policy for decades not to initiate contact with someone solely to determine whether they are in the country legally.

During Beck’s tenure he has avoided turning over people with questionable immigration status who are arrested for low-level crimes.

  1. DeBlasio has also promised not to assist the Trump adminisration deport illegals in NY. Is it legal for the LAPD or the NYPD to defy the President. Doesn’t sound legal to me. Why on earth would NY or LA condone harboring criminal illegals? How libeal can one get?

  2. This Bozo the Clown should turn in his badge. He swore to uphold the law. An illegal committed a crime by coming here. That makes the illegal a criminal.

  3. I actually watched on fox news last night that it is up to each state whether or not to report the illegal alien crimimals. The only thing trump can do is withhold federal funding to these cities. That will hopefully force these cities to comply.

  4. oh so the chief has some laws he doesnt have to abide by so wheres the list of laws we dont have to abide by?

how could he in essence announce “I shall not abide by the law”?

  5. Let’s take all the illegals in LA and move them right into this disgusting waste of space’s neighborhood; see how he likes it.

Please, President Trump, cut all funding for schools that accept illegals, and states that allow sanctuary cities.
