Former Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Paroled From Prison


1Former Deputy Jerusalem Mayor (Shas) Eli Simchayof, who entered prison in December 2015 to serve an 18-month sentence, is scheduled to be released in the coming days on good behavior. It is expected that he will be released next week.

Simchayof appeared before a parole board, which granted his request to be released after serving two-thirds of his term.

The former Shas official after being convicted for his part in the Holyland real estate case which involved others including former PM Ehud Olmert, who is also serving a prison term at present for some of his convictions in a number of cases against him.
