mys[PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

Jerusalem Municipality workers observed the second day of their strike on Monday, 3 Shevat. Among the city’s services that are halted is sanitation; garbage pickup.

The situation is getting out of hand in the area of the shuk, Machane Yehuda, and as a result of garbage on Jaffa Street, the light rail ceased operating in the center of the city. Angry shuk vendors have been pushing the bulk of the trash onto Aggripas Street, interfering with cars and public buses.

The following photos give one a look at the situation in and around the shuk on Monday morning. One sees Aggripas Street as well as the front of the shuk as well as Jaffa Street where the light rail is interrupted.

  1. ירושלים בחורבנה.
Its high time Israelis were made to recycle all their paper and plastic waste. Its unbelievable. Its one of the only developed countries where people can throw away unlimited amounts of any waste into limitless dumpsters. The country is so small, do they need all that landfill? Maybe it’s the next project Rabbi Litzman could task.
