Trump Questions University Funding After Protest

01President Donald Trump is questioning whether the University of California at Berkeley should be granted federal funding. Trump urges the school to honor free speech.

Protesters hurled smoke bombs, broke windows and started a bonfire prompting university officials to cancel a talk Wednesday by Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos out of safety concerns.

Trump tweeted Thursday, “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – NO FEDERAL FUNDS?”

Berkeley cancelled Yiannopoulos’ appearance after a crowd of some 1,500 gathered outside the venue.

The 32-year-old right-wing provocateur is a vocal Trump supporter and a self-proclaimed internet troll whose comments have been criticized as racist, misogynist, anti-Muslim and white supremacist.

  1. He obviously doesn’t care about the first amendment, otherwise he wouldn’t criticize the women’s march, the airport protests etc, he cares because this person supports him. I guess at 70 we can’t expect him to grow up and stop whining. Completely undignified and an embarrassment.

  2. I don’t know anything of Milo Yiannopoulos (and very little even of Breitbart) so I looked it up in Wikipedia. Milo Yiannopoulos is the “tech” write for Breitbart. His twitter account was temporarily suspended when he remarked negatively about Islam regarding the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting (“a 29-year-old security guard, killed 49 people and wounded 53 others … swore allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi).

In 2016 Milo Yiannopoulos panned the (latest?) Ghostbusters reboot as “a movie to help lonely middle-aged women feel better about being left on the shelf.” Twitter users then ranted racist slurs against one of the female actors Leslie Jones, and Twitter blamed Milo Yiannopoulos and permanently banned his account, despite his own protestations that he denounced the abusive tweets sent by others at Jones.

  3. Let’s be clear about this. Even the article noted some of the violence: “Protesters hurled smoke bombs, broke windows and started a bonfire”. How does that translate to the comments here trashing Trump for simple free speech criticism (no violence) of whomever or whatever he wants to criticize?

  4. #2 According to your … post you’re surely one of those “merciful” women who joined the women’s march or would love to have joined them protesting Trump’s evil anti-baby-murdering law and the airport protests against Trump’s evil anti-terrorist law. What an evil man for disapproving murdering babies and killing Americans.

  5. #2: And of course how dare he condemn violence? What an outrage! Why liberals, not being in power anymore, must have a way to vent their primitive propensity to rage and violence.
For shame on the president and others for not being tolerant of such behavior.
Not sure how old you are, but you’re an imbecile at any age.
