What Are the Odds? The Same Cop Apprehends a Driver Speeding Months Following First Offense

mishA 21-year-old driver stopped for speeding on Sunday 9 Shevat, apprehended driving 143KPH in a 90KPH zone on Route 65 in northern Israel, an area known as Nachal I’ron (Wadi Ara).

The same driver, a new driver during his probationary period, was apprehended speeding and had his license suspended a number of months ago. At that time, he was apprehended by the same policeman, driving 182 KPH. He was also driving without the mandatory veteran driver accompaniment.

When caught on Sunday he told police “I didn’t realize how fast I was going”.

  1. Since most policemen patrol a relatively small area, and most people live and work in a small area, it is quite likely a “cop on the beat” will come to recognize the “usual suspects”. Quite normal.

  2. “I didn’t realize how fast I was going”. — completely believable. I didn’t know whether I was going 160, 180, 200 kmph…

  3. actually once happened to me. was pulled twice two weeks apart by the same cop. wasn’t a big deal. wasn’t doing 100 though
