PHOTOS: United Hatzalah Mass Ambucycle Fleet Upgrade

Jerusalem –  The plaza outside the headquarters of United Hatzalah at the entrance to Jerusalem was abuzz with activity. 15 brand-new lifesaving ambucycles were parked side by side in an impressive display of lifesaving potential. Volunteers from around the country had the opportunity to meet donors from around the world and get a first look at the newest additions to United Hatzalah’s fleet of lifesaving ambucycles. Chairman of the International Committee of United Hatzalah Mark Gerson was on-hand to greet the donors and distribute the ambucycles to the most active volunteers. Mr. Gerson, a highly successful business consultant, explained that the relatively low cost of the investment in an ambucycle coupled with the high rate of return makes this the most efficient investment vehicle on the market. With ambucycle medics responding to over 500 emergency calls a year dividends accrue rapidly in the form of priceless lives saved and people treated. Mark urged people to take the opportunity to invest in life.

United Hatzalah now fields over 130 ambucycles throughout the country and plans to have 250 on the roads by 2012. The ambucycles are already helping medics reach people in Zefat, Hadera, Netanya, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Petach Tikva, Netivot, Beer Sheva and Beit Shemesh. One of the ambucycles, donated by Ron and June Daniels of Miami, actually left to event to deliver a baby on Golda Meir Blvd in Ramot. The ambucycle was one of 3 donated in memory of Rabbi Gavriel Beer A”H, father of United Hatzalah’s President Eli Beer. In an emotional address to the audience, Eli mentioned that his father was always one United Hatzalah’s biggest supporters. Eli recalled that it was one of the ambucycle medics who was first on scene to save his father’s life when he had a heart attack. The rapid response allowed Rabbi Beer to enjoy a full year of nachas and growth with his family and the family of United Hatzalah.
