Israeli Businessmen Attacked in Spain

A number of Israeli businessmen attending a conference in Spain were targeted by attackers, apparently pro-Palestinian radicals who felt justified in their actions following the Gaza flotilla commando incident. The assault occurred at the Autonomous University of Madrid, leaving one of the intended victims with light head injuries as a result of the rocks and paint hurled at them.

The conference, sponsored by the Spain-Israel Chamber of Commerce, was halted as a result of the violence.

The group of intruders, primarily Muslim in appearance, numbered 200 according to local Spanish media reports. They entered the auditorium shouting “murderers murderers” at the Israelis. Police escorted the Israelis to safety and police vehicles were attacked as they drove them to safety. Israeli diplomatic officials in Spain condemned the attack.
