FDNY’s Superb Job In NYC Heatwave

As the city suffers through the current heat wave, the FDNY is on track for one of the busiest days of the year, responding to two five-alarm fires in Queens today alone, each utilizing over 200 firefighters and 44 units.

In addition, firefighters responded to two second-alarm fires in the Bronx and a third-alarm in Queens yesterday.

Meanwhile, FDNY’s Emergency Medical Service yesterday had the fifth busiest day on record since 2001, exceeded only by two New Year’s Eve celebrations and the blackout of 2003.
