Tornado Warning Issued For Sullivan County


Wednesday 3:15PM EST: A tornado warning has been issued for Sullivan County in northern New York until 3:45 p.m. This alert is issued when a tornado is indicated by radar or sighted by storm spotters. Seek shelter if you are in the area.

The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. Get under a workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is available, seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use blankets or pillows to cover your body and always stay away from windows.

If in mobile homes or vehicles, evacuate them and get inside a substantial shelter. If no shelter is available, lie flat in the nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING FOR EXTREME SOUTH CENTRAL DELAWARE COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK, WEST CENTRAL SULLIVAN COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK, EAST CENTRAL WAYNE COUNTY IN NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA.

* THE STORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR… HANKINS AND FREMONT BY 320 PM EDT… CALLICOON BY 325 PM EDT… HORTONVILLE…CALLICOON CENTER AND COCHECTON CENTER BY 330 PM EDT… JEFFERSONVILLE BY 335 PM EDT…
