PHOTOS: Car Hits Propane Tank At Irvington Estates In Fallsburg [UPDATE 10:05PM EST]


(Click on all images to enlarge them) 8:55PM EST: The Fallsburg Fire Department is on the scene of a car which struck a propane tank at the Irvington Estates on Route 42 in the Town of Fallsburg.

As per the fire department, there is a large propane leak at the location.

Route 42 has been totally shut down by the fire department, and the Irvington Estates is being evacuated as a precaution.

Catskills Hatzolah has dispatched 4 ambulances and paramedics, and are assisting the FD.

Expect heavy traffic in the area of Route 42 from Fallsburg (4 corners) until Main Street in South Fallsburg.

UPDATE 9:03PM EST: Woodbourne FD has been requested to respond for mutual aid assistance as well.

UPDATE 9:07PM EST: All Hatzolah personnel are staging at Skolya Camp which is located up the road from the Irvington.

UPDATE 9:09PM EST: Catskill Hatzolah is transporting 2 patients who were in the vehicle which struck the propane tank to CRMC (Harris Hospital). They reportedly have minor injuries.

UPDATE 9:11PM EST: The Loch Sheldrake FD has been requested to respond for mutual aid assistance.

UPDATE 9:31PM EST: The situation remains the same, with the entire area evacuated. Numerous fire departments are on the scene.

UPDATE 9:45PM EST: The Fallsburg High School has been opened for the families who have been evacuated.

UPDATE 10:05PM EST: The scene has been secured, and the road will soon be open to traffic. All evacuees will be allowed back to their homes as well.
