Burglar Strikes Sefarady Bungalow Colony

On Sunday evening, 8/22/10, at approximately 10:30 pm, Deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress at the Sefarady Bungalow Colony located at 685 Old Liberty Road in the Town of Thompson.

A resident had heard a noise in the bedroom of their bungalow, and when they went to investigate, they observed a pair of hands, reaching through the window, and removing money from the victim’s wallet which was on a table. The suspect fled when he saw the resident.

Deputies found that the screen in the bedroom window had been sliced with a knife or razor. Deputies combed the area surrounding the bungalow colony and called in Fallsburg Police Officer Chris Rosa with K-9 “Chase”. The K-9 unit tracked through the woods along Old Liberty Road, eventually coming out to a pull off where the trail went cold. It is believed their may have been a car waiting at that location.

Deputies are asking anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Confidential Tips Line at 845-807-0158 or the Patrol’s main number at 845-794-7100.
