MTA Sets Grace Period For MetroCards After Fare Hike


New York – The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has set grace periods for using unlimited MetroCards before the fare hike.

Unlimited ride Metrocards purchased before fares increase on December 30th must be swiped by January 10th to get the maximum value.

A one-day Fun Pass will expire that day, while a seven-day pass or seven-day express bus card will expire on January 16th.

A 14-day card expires January 23rd, and the monthly card will lose its value February 8th.

The price of a monthly Metrocard is rising 17 percent from $89 to $104. The weekly card will go from $27 to $29.

The one day and 14-day passes are being eliminated.
