Woman Says Suspect In Murder Of Brooklyn Boy Tried To Kidnap Her Son; NYPD Denies Claims To YWN

A woman claims that Levi Aron tried to kidnap her son two years ago, but high-ranking NYPD officials tell YWN that they highly doubt that the woman is credible.

According to our well-placed sources, the woman claims that two years ago her son came home and said that a man tried giving him a ride in his car. The woman never made any police report, but told detectives that she did call Shomrim who asked her if she had a description of the suspect or other information, to which she said she didn’t. Even though she never saw the man who tried to kidnap her son, nor have any witnesses to back up her claim, she now claims that the alleged killer of 9-year-old Leiby Kletzky A”H, was the man who tried abducting her young son.

The following is from MyFoxNY:

A neighbor of the Brooklyn man who allegedly killed and mutilated the body of eight-year-old Leibby Kletzky said he tried to kidnap her young son right off their block, but that she scared him away with her screams, the New York Post reported Saturday.

“The story is true. We’re going through a lot of trauma here,” Zisa Berkowitz said, steps from where Levi Aron allegedly suffocated eight-year-old Leibby with a bath towel in Aron’s attic apartment.

New York Police Department (NYPD) detectives spoke to Berkowitz on Wednesday, just hours after Aron was arrested for Kletzky’s murder and dismemberment.

The alleged kidnap attempt occurred within the past two years, sources said.

A former neighbor who grew up across the street described Aron as an “oddball” who “used to give kids rides in cars.”

Aron later moved to Tennessee, where he worked as a butcher at a Kosher deli. He was married briefly before moving back to Brooklyn.

A Facebook friend told the iPad news publication The Daily that Aron had written on the site that “he likes Brooklyn more than Tennessee because there are more boys here.”

Aron went after another local boy in a failed kidnapping attempt about a week before the Leibby murder, sources told The Daily.

He stalked the 11-year-old in Borough Park with the same Honda he used to abduct Leibby, the sources said.

“[He] was walking home on his block when he noticed a gold car was tailing him,” a source said. “He kept turning around, feeling suspicious, and kept noticing the car was there, so he broke into a run and quickly went home to tell his parents.”

  1. All crimes or attempted crimes must be reported to the police. If this mother had reported to the police 2 years ago that Aron tried to kidnap her son, he would have been put under surveillance and Leiby a”H might still be alive.

It is dangerous to push crimes under the carpet.

  2. I’m sure he has “done things” in the past, but for some crazy reason he got away with it. Even if this neighbor is exaggerating, I’d bet he’s at least tried to abduct boys. Who has been protecting him? The same people who continue to protect other molesters in our communities?

  3. Jason, I almost believe you are a tzaddik, but an inner voice is telling me that you are just a fake. Which one is true?

  4. why wud he be a fake??? i also think they shud take of his picture . why shud ppl look at a face of a murderer?
