Beth Israel To Take Over St. Vincent’s Cancer Center

New York – Beth Israel Medical Center will take over the operations at St. Vincent’s Cancer Center, officials announced today.

St. Vincent’s was forced to close last Friday after declaring bankruptcy.

“This proposed transfer of services will ensure critical continuity of care for thousands of [Saint Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center] patients who make over 60,000 visits to the cancer center annually,” said the hospitals in a joint statement.

Beth Israel will take over the lease for the West 15th Street building, meaning patients will not have to relocate.

The partnership will make the cancer center one of the largest mult-site cancer programs in the Northeast.

  1. Will it open as “Beth Israel” and therefore be kosher, or as a member of Continuum and not have to be?
