The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 58.9 points, or 0.6 percent, to 10,319.95. The blue-chip index is in negative territory for the year, down 1 percent.

The S&P 500 slipped 5.86 points, or 0.5 pecent, to 1,083.61, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 18.4 points, or 0.8 percent to 2,190.27.
