Israel: Arab Couple To Build In Jewish Community

Following a ruling of the Israel Lands Administration (ILA), Sahknin residents Ahmed and Zadina Zabeidat will be permitted to build their dream home, in the Galil community of Rakefet. They were rejected when they applied to the Jewish community five years ago by the community’s admissions committee.

According to a report in the daily Haaretz, the timing of the land administration officials is far from coincidental, but it precedes a High Court hearing on the matter set for September 13th, and the ruling will undoubtedly influence the court.

ILA acting director released a statement to the media, stating she has been persuaded of the honorable intentions of the couple, which simply seeks to integrate into the community and enjoy a better lifestyle.

After the couple was rejected by the admissions committee, it turned to the ILA and then the High Court of Justice, which called upon the admissions committee to reconsider as well as the ILA appeals committee to intervene.

Ahmed explained to officials that he even knows some of the residents of Rakefet, having studied architecture with them. He insists that he and his wife are simply looking for an improved standard of living and they believe Rakefet is the place, since it is a community with a diverse population.

  1. This is a fair decision. If yidden insist on the right to build anywhere in EY, than arab citizens of EY should have the identical rights. Also,by integrating the neighborhoods, it would go a long way towards promoting understanding among the 99 percent of the members of each sector of the poplulation that only want to live together in peace.

  2. Good for them. We wouldn’t want other countries barring Jews from Non-Jewish neighborhoods and we shouldn’t bar Arabs from Jewish neighborhoods.

  3. GREAT IDEA!!!!

Every jewish town should have one arab family.

This way the government will never be able to pull off another Gush Katif!!!!

(A local shabos goy and mechanic are just some added bonuses)

  4. Its amazing how noone seems to learn from the past; Peace is not a possibility with a people who preach hatred and bloodshed and consider suicide bomber martyrs. If they enter our communities we are just enabling them to do an ‘inside job’. Hashem should watch over us!

  5. Maybe you forgot, but when the Chazon Ish A”H asked Ben-G if the state will be Jewish? He answered NO!
So what are we so surprised or upset about? The state of Israel is a Goluss at least as much as any other place in the world.

  6. #9 — The risks are hardly comparable. When was the last time you heard of an Arab family being murdered in cold blood in their beds? How about the recent incident of the individuals who accidentally drove into an Arab city outside of Yerushalayim and barely escaped with their lives simply because they were driving through? Or last Elul when a car got separated from the rest of the group while attending a levaya on Har Hazeisim and the driver and one passenger ended up in the hospital after being stoned and stabbed? There are tens of thousands of Arabs living throughout Israel, receiving all the benefits of citizenship including the right to vote, membership in all the entitlement programs, etc. How many Jewish neighborhoods are there in the Palestinian territory on the West Bank? How about in Gaza?

Additionally Arabs generally cannot sell their land in Israel to a Jew without facing the risk of being murdered by their own fellow Arabs.
