Wednesday Morning News Briefs From Eretz Yisrael


** In a major showing of force, Iran’s air force is taking part in a 10-day combat readiness training event. According to the FARS News Agency report, intensive combat readiness exercises will be taking place in the northwestern area of the country.

Tue, 20:29: A border police officer was injured in a rock-throwing attack near Kalandia, on Jerusalem’s northern border.

Tue, 20:31: An Arab male was taken into custody after he was found to be concealing a knife in his toolbox at the Machpelah Cave in Chevron.

** Kotel Rav Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz released a statement on Tuesday condemning the attack against a Shomron mosque earlier in the week which included anti-Islam graffiti and starting a blaze in the basement of the abandoned structure.

** 4 crocodiles that escaped from the Petzael Farm in the Jordan Valley area were apprehended by police and wildlife agents on Monday. They join 10 others apprehended since they made their great escape last Thursday. Police are questioning a number of caretakers at the farm who may be charged with negligence.

** IDF soldiers operating in Yehuda and Shomron during the night arrested three Arabs suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.

01:12: A vehicle traveling on the Gush Etzion Road was targeted in a rock-throwing attack near Karmei Tzur. No injuries reported.

** Following recent protests at that location, a security wall is being constructed around the Israeli Embassy in Cairo to prevent access to the compound.

** A yeshiva bachur fell from a 2nd story window of the yeshiva on Rav Asher Street in Bnei Brak during the night. He was transported to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, reported to be in moderate condition.

10:02: IDF soldiers used riot-control adjuncts to control over 200 Arabs throwing rocks at the Bekaot Checkpoint in the Jordan Valley area. No injuries reported.

** Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita is expected to attend the Wednesday night dedication of a shul in Nahariya in memory of Baba Elazar ZATZAL. The event is set to begin at 21:00 near the Nahariya Shopping Center. Others expected to attend include Rabbis David and Pinchas Abuchatzera, government ministers and area rabbonim.

** Baruch Dayan Emmes: Moras Feige Tzipporah Blau ob”m of Ramat Shlomo was niftar Tuesday night in Shaare Zedek Medical Center at the age of 55. She was the rebitzen of Rabbi Yitzchak Yehuda Blau, a rebbe in Yeshivas Zvill and a daughter of Rabbi Pinchos Zeilig Burger ZT”L. The levaya took place Tuesday night in Har Menuchos. Shiva is at 10 Lupian Street in Ramat Shlomo.

** A female security guard in an Afula public school was attacked with teargas on Wednesday morning by masked persons who made off with her weapon. She was lightly injured and transported to a local emergency room.
