NIS 100s Of Millions For Bnei Brak


Hundreds of millions of new Israeli shekels will be allocated for the city of Bnei Brak in the coming years, seeking to make significant improvements before the city’s 90th birthday. The city was established by a number of talmidei chacham originally from Warsaw, in 5694, and the first may was Rabbi Yitzchak Gershtenkorn. This year marks his 50th yahrzeit.

A project has been launched towards implementing significant improvements for the 90th birthday, a multiyear plan, which Mayor Rabbi Yaakov Asher explains will only serve to enhance the city’s priority, as one of Torah and Chinuch. Nevertheless explains the mayor, there is a need to improve on quality of life, building new mosdos and meeting other needs.

The mayor proudly announced that this is the third consecutive year that City Hall boasts balanced books, operating within its budget.

  1. Balanced books? Great! Maybe he would like to run for Mayor of NYC. We have almost as many Jews and mosdos ha’Torah here, a Jewish mayor wouldn’t be a first, and we certainly could use a balanced budget. Better yet, how about an Asher – Guiliani ticket in ’12?
