Monday Morning News Briefs From Eretz Yisrael


Saudi hackers vowed to down El Al and TASE (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange) websites earlier. Both sites have been downed in ongoing cyber war

** The Kinneret has Baruch Hashem risen an additional two centimeters, now measuring -214.42.

** Two Jerusalem Ministry of Transportation road test inspectors were arrested on suspicion of passing hundreds of students on their road test, granting them licenses, in exchange of payment of hundreds of shekels each.

** Hizbullah has stepped up cooperation with Syrian leader Bashar el-Assad, firing a number of katyusha rockets at protestors in Damascus on Monday morning.

** PM Netanyahu told members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee that he favors extending the Tal Law, providing an exemption for military service for chareidim. In 2011, 2,400 chareidim joined the IDF (1,282) or national service (1,118). This represents a 40% increase from the previous year, signaling the success of the law and the current situation.

13:05: Appears hackers have now downed Bank Leumi, Bank Otzar HaChayal and Bank Mossad websites too.

14:00: Two Arabs were taken into custody as they tried crossing a Jenin area checkpoint. They were smuggling 100 pipe bombs and a weapon at the time of their apprehension. They were taken for questioning.
