PHOTOS & VIDEOS: Peleg Protests Resume On Thursday Afternoon In Jerusalem And Bnei Brak

(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

After a one-day hiatus, Peleg faction protests resumed on Thursday afternoon 6 Cheshvan, at 13:30pm at Jerusalem’s Kikar Shabbos, citing this protest is for the 44 heroes who are imprisoned by IDF authorities for being deserters. Protests also began in Bnei Brak at 2:00pm.

At least 6 people were arrested for blocking the Jerusalem Light Rail.

Ironically, at each protest, due to the violence, additional arrests are made. Part of the processing of detainees is to run their identity numbers in the computer, which reveals who is wanted for desertion by the IDF. Hence, with each protest, the number of Peleg-affiliated talmidim handed over to the IDF increases, with most sentenced to 20 days imprisonment.

A yeshiva has been established outside Prison 6, where they are serving their sentence, in a showing of solidarity with them. In the interim, Degel Hatorah and Shas are both beginning to distance themselves from the Peleg faction, with both submitting letters to the Knesset Speaker explaining the protesters do not represent them or mainstream chareidi Yiddishkheit.

  1. I thought they were standing up for Torah. In the old days that meant increasing Torah, Chesed and Avodah, instead they are stealing (by blocking the roads, people cannot get to where they need to be — that’s gzeilas zman), possibly if there is cahs vsholom an emergency, they are blocking hatzalah rescuce personnel…. What is the heter? Did anyone ask them who told them to clock traffic? I don’t belive that is what HaRAv Aurbach had in mind…. No one should blame him for these people that are just hurting others….

  2. any letter unsigned is not worth the paper its written on. When i comment its signed. This is not like 20 years ago demonstrating chillul Shabbos. This is a chillul Hashem that not only is gans klal yisroel watching but the entire world.

  3. Oh my! They were clapping their hands! That’s so scary!
No wonder the police had to push them around and arrest them!

YWN, why do you expect to be taken seriously? Just because a few lunatics believe every word you print without the slightest corroboration, you think that you are practicing journalism?
The only violence in this video was by the police.
Are your journalists and photographers so lousy that they couldn’t even take one photo of a “terrorist Peleg” bachur? Or is the problem something else?

  4. My wife is elderly (75) and a bit feeble. She had a doctor’s apt in Geula on thursday. The bus took her only part of the way and she had to walk much further than she though and coming back was impossible to find a cab so he had to do much walking which was very hard on her until she could get transportation back.

She lost several hours, cost money to get a cab and could not function (no dinner) when she returned.

I think the rabbis are evil people and the bochrim and stupid to believe in such evil rabbis.
These evil rabbis should listen to the majority opinion and let the boys get their deferments simply and without causing problems.

  5. Wow what a Kidush Hashem. Yidden standing up for Hashem’s honor. Whoever is inconvenienced should be happy because a part in this Kidush Hashem.
