New Bill Proposed Would Mandate Reflective Vest After Dark

ref.jpgA new law was proposed in the Knesset today which would mandate pedestrians, joggers and bicycle riders who use the shoulders of intercity highways after dark to wear a reflective vest – Arutz 7 reports. People walking, running or riding on highway shoulders after sunset would be fined NIS 200.

The bill was put forth by MKs Zevulun Orlev (NU/NRP) and Shai Hermesh (Kadima).

This is the second law put forth in the Knesset in recent months regarding the safety of bicycle riders. The first law (reported HERE on YWN) requires bicyclists to wear a helmet while riding. The law was passed by the Knesset, and fines can be issued by police if caught riding without a helmet.

  1. Please, even if its not a law its a good idea. The better you can be seen at night the safer you will be. The last thing I want to do when driving is hit someone walking along the road.
