Chareidi residents of Jerusalem’s Nachlaot neighborhood, bordering shuk Machane Yehuda, have turned to Deputy Mayor Yossi Deutsch in the hope he will be able to cancel a Purim event planned for Friday, continuing well after candle lighting time.
According to the adverts, the city is endorsing the event. Residents asked that it ends by 3:00PM to permit street cleaners to complete their job before Shabbos, citing there are some 20 shuls in the area.
Deutsch is approaching city officials, including the mayor, asking to end the event prior to the beginning of Shabbos to avoid the agmas nefesh to the area’s religious residents.

“…to avoid the agmas nefesh to the area’s religious residents”
Is that why we want it to finish before Shabbos Kodesh? How about because we don’t want yieden doing melocho on Shabbos, because we’re ‘areivim ze l’ze’?
It seems that it’s more selfish of the locals, than lesheim shomayim. I truly hope that’s not true.
Dear Geordie613,
That’s one way of thinking,
The alternative is, maybe they don’t want to impose or force their views on on others, but you’re 100% right
