Report: Additional Suspect Close To PM Netanyahu Arrested In Case 4000

While Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Mrs. Sara Netanyahu are in the United States on an official visit, police investigators in Israel are working hard on the case known as 4000, in which Mr. Netanyahu is alleged to have promoted lucrative regulation in his capacity as acting Communications Minister to benefit Bezeq Telecommunications. According to allegations, in exchange for assisting Bezeq, the Bezeq-owned Walla News website was to provide favorable coverage of the Netanyahu couple.

Police have now arrested another former Chief of Staff of the Communications Minister, Eitan Tzafrir, who is suspected of breach of trust. He was questioned and released without restrictions. He was actually acting Communications Minister as Mr. Netanyahu was Prime Minister. His attorneys announced he has not signed to become a state witness in the case. Tzafrir is a close associate of another suspect in the case, Nir Hefetz, who remains under house arrest at this time.
