Minister of Culture & Sports (Likud) Miri Regev announced she would do her utmost to have Elor Azariyas criminal record expunged. She made her comments on Tuesday, 23 Iyar, after the former IDF soldier was released from prison after serving a sentence after being convicted of manslaughter for shooting a wounded Arab terrorist.
Regev joins Minister Yisrael Katz, who following Azariyas release stated he would ask President Reuven Rivlin to expunge his criminal record to facilitate Elors efforts to get on with his life after being released from prison.
Regev spoke with Elors parents, visiting their home, wishing them well upon his release. She promised Elors dad she will continue standing by his side by trying to have his criminal record removed to facilitate his moving forward in life.
