Deri Calls On Netanyahu To Push US To Recognize Births In Yerushalayim As Being In Israel

In his letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri makes mention of the “Historic event”, the moving of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

He adds, that in order to complete the process, the United States must recognize Jerusalem as a part of Israel, referring to the State Department policy in which an American citizen born in Jerusalem does not have “Israel” on a birth certificate or passport, but “Jerusalem”. Deri feels changing this to permit recording “Israel” as the place of birth would be the completion of the process which began with the moving of the embassy to Yerushalayim.

  1. I can’t understand what this is all about. I was born in Jerusalem and my us passport says born in Israel. So someone please what am I looking at??

  2. But it doesn’t say Jerusalem, Israel. Had you been born in Ashdod it would say Ashdod, Israel.
