IDF Simulates Capture of Gaza City in Operational Drill


On Sunday, the IDF launched a series of exercises that took place in various locations throughout Israel following recent aggression on behalf of Hamas that saw upwards of 200 rockets launched at Israel on Saturday. The largest of these exercises is taking place in southern Israel and is simulating the take over of Gaza City.

“Beginning in the morning, a number of military exercises will begin throughout the country, which are expected to finish up toward the end of the week,” said the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit in a statement that was issued to the  Israeli media. .

The statement said that Israelis can expect to see “increased movement by security forces, vehicles, and aircraft.”

According to one news site, Walla, one such exercise, is to be led by the 162nd Armored Division and will be focusing on simulating the capture of Gaza City.

The statement also said that the series of drills was not due to the recent attacks, but rather they are part of the regularly schedule annual drills for each unit.
