MK Yogev, a Retired IDF Colonel Says No Chance of Achieving Peace with Gaza Regime

Speaking in a radio interview on Monday, 25 Menachem Av, MK (Bayit Yehudi) Moti Yogev, a retired IDF colonel, explained in his professional viewpoint, there is no chance of Israel reaching any kind of significant agreement with the Hamas regime in Gaza.

In an interview with Radio Darom, Yogev explained that despite Israel’s pullout from Gaza back in 2005, the nation has not escaped the security issues that result from bordering Hamastine. His remarks came as the cabinet on Sunday discussed a ceasefire with Hamas, which the experts seem to view with pessimism, as many experts state any deal with Hamas is worthless. The Arab media is reporting Hamas has agreed to a “gradual ceasefire”, whatever this means.

Israel has in the past, and present, appears too willing to accept ceasefire agreements, which have proved all but worthless in the past. It was during one of the Hamas ceasefires, back in 2014, during Operation Protective Edge, when Hamas opened fire on troops in Rafiach, killing Lt. Hadar Goldin HY”D and Sgt. Oren Shaul HY”D, and then grabbing their bodies, which the parents are still davening will be returned to permit them to be buried in Israel.

The soldiers’ parents have recently held a joint press conference in a Jerusalem hotel, during which time they stated the return of the bodies for kvura must be a precondition to any and all agreements between Hamas and Israel. They expressed harsh criticism of the government, which they accuse of failing to keep its promise to keep the return of the bodies high on the cabinet’s priority list.

  1. Of course there is no chance of peace with them.

there is a difference between peace and a ceasefire. Peace is what the US and Canada have, they respect each other, visit each other trade with each other and are on friendly terms. Ceasefire is when they stop killing each other so that they can rearm for the next round of killing.

Islam permits making cease fire with the enemy for the purpose of later killing them. On rare occasions they will make ‘peace’ with them to overcome some other obstical but Hamas is sworn to get rid of the Jews from Eretz Yisroel.
