Arriving in Eretz Yisrael last Thursday, R’ Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin is making his first trip outside of the United States since the travel ban prohibiting him from leaving the country was lifted.
On Sunday afternoon, 8 Elul, Rubashkin traveled to Bnei Brak and met with HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, HaGaon HaRav Berel Povarsky and HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein, accompanied by Rabbi Pinchas Lipschutz, the editor of the English-version Yated Ne’eman.
Rubashkin also met with MK Yisrael Eichler. The meeting was held on motzei Shabbos in Eichler’s home. Like many, Eichler felt Rubashkin was unjustly sentenced, mentioning his plight to US Vice President Mike Pence during his visit to Israel.
During their brief meeting, Rubashkin reminded Eichler that when he visited with him in New York following his release from prison, before Pesach, he gave him a bracha that they would meet next time in Eretz Yisrael. Rubashkin told Eichler that visiting with him in Yerushalayim is the realization of a dream.
Eichler stated “HKBH selected [US President Donald] Trump against all odds, so he could release you [from prison].”
