(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

An 8-month-old girl in northern Israel was rushed to the emergency room of Ziv Hospital in Tzefas because she was emitting blood tinged saliva and having difficulty breathing.

When she arrived in the emergency room, doctors determined she had a foreign object stuck in her throat. She was given general anesthesia and her airway was secured and then the team began probing to determine the cause of the obstruction.

Doctors found a 3-centimeter-long metal screw lodged in the child’s pharynx, which they were able to remove. The child was admitted for observation, and doctors described her condition as good.
