SHOCK: Arabs Use Stolen Tehillim Pages to Sell Spices

Soldiers were shocked to see Muslim Arab vendors in the Old City of Jerusalem selling spices in torn off pages of Tehillim books. The soldiers were being taken on a tour of the city as part of the military’s Sunday culture project in which IDF units are brought to a site of the historical importance of the Jewish people as a cultural enrichment project.

Some of the soldiers purchased Zatar, a popular Israeli spice, from a baigeleh (Arab bread shaped in a large pretzel or U) vendor. The spice, which is often used as a topping for the bread snack, was wrapped in pages torn from books of Tehillim that had been destroyed.

The snacks were sold at the Jaffa gate, at the entrance to the Old City. Usually they are wrapped in newspaper. On Sunday morning, they were wrapped in pages torn from various stolen Tehillim books.

A mother of one of the soldiers who was on the trip told Israeli media outlets that: “This is unacceptable and disgusting behavior. My daughter sent me a photo of what had happened and I was appalled and shocked. I fully expect that the police will get involved in this situation and put an end to it.”

  1. To state the obvious – what would be the WORLD reaction is a single person was caught selling a single spice in a single incident in a single torn off page from the Koran?
