It was a stormy response among youths backing the Degel Hatorah/Shas candidate in the Elad mayoral race, Yitzchak Pindrus; after the Lod Administrative Court disqualified Pindrus from the race. Backers of the Peleg Yerushalayim faction, the Bnei Torah party, challenged the legitimacy of his candidacy, claiming he moved to the city only to be elected and does not actually live in the city.
The court ruled against Pindrus. In a joint statement released by Shas and Degel Hatorah, they explain their next stop is the High Court of Justice. They express confidence the decision of the Lod court will be overturned.
Nevertheless, for many youths in the city, they felt the situation called for a stormy protest, outside the home of mayor Yisrael Porush, who is running for reelection. Both Shas and Degel are determined to unseat Porush, who is affiliated with Agudas Yisrael.
