Police Shut Down Eastern Jerusalem Arab Wedding In Response To Gunfire

Jerusalem police on Wednesday night shut down an Arab wedding taking place in an eastern Jerusalem venue after gunfire took place as is commonplace during Arab weddings. One of the guests was injured, and four family members were taken in for questioning.

During the evening hours on Wednesday, 8 Marcheshvan, police received a report a person suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at an eastern Jerusalem hospital, reportedly from gunfire at a local wedding. Police arrived at the wedding, shut it down, and took in four persons for questioning, including the bridegroom.

Interestingly, prominent attorney Itamar Ben-Givir has recently called for the dismissal of the indictments against defendants in the ‘hate chasenah’, citing the fact that shooting is commonplace in Arab weddings, and the system cannot tolerate a double standard regarding enforcement of the law.
