A vehicle in which Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem’s Old City HaGaon HaRav Avigdor Nebenzahl Shlita was traveling was involved in an accident on Tuesday, near Modi’in Illit. While both vehicles sustained significant damage, B’chasdei Hashem, there were no injuries.
United Hatzalah EMTs explained to the media they were dispatched to a call for a vehicular accident with possible injuries, and they were “surprised” to see in one of the vehicles, HaGaon HaRav Nebenzahl was seated. The rav was on his way to be Brachfeld where he was going to serve as a sandek for the child of one of his talmidim.
They added “it was wondrous as the elderly rav was involved in an accident, not a fender bender, and his vehicle was hit with a significant force, and while the sight lent itself to expecting serious injury, B’chasdei Hashem, there were no physical injuries. It is really hard to describe our feeling in words”.
The EMS personnel did not waste the opportunity and asked the rav for a bracha, which he happily gave, commending them on their lifesaving volunteerism.
