VIDEO: Police Arrest 8 Suspects Connected to the Berland-Breslov Feud in Meah Shearim

(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Police on Wednesday, following an investigation, arrived in Meah Shearim with a sizable force and arrested eight suspects connected to the recent escalating feud between Breslov factions of the chassidus; between followers and opponents of Rabbi Eliezer Berland.

In 2017, the rabbi was convicted in a plea bargain agreement of assaulting numerous persons R”L and has since led to a significant split in the chassidus, and the main beis medrash of the chassidus in Meah Shearim, has become the venue of recent violent brawls between factions.

The suspects in custody allegedly participated in violent attacks in recent months in the beis medrash as well as damaging vehicles and stores near Shar Shechem and Chaim Bar-Lev Blvd.

The suspects range in age from 15 to 50-years-old, all residents of the capital. Police will decide if they are questioned and released or arraigned based on information obtained during questioning.

  1. “Berland and his thugs aren’t a “faction” ,they are a cult!”

Absolutely & no less dangerous than Lev Tahor. Both are led by sexual predators. He makes me sick, this pervert. Why does YWN refer to him as Rav yet they (rightly) attack LT? Because Berland’s victims appear to be more mainstream?

A cult is a cult. It’s all about controlling others & diminishing them into subservience & Berland the pervert does that. They may look more “normal” but they aren’t and when he dies, someone is waiting in the wings to grab that control. Isn’t this the prelude?
