In an extremely bizarre incident, customs officials in the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport noticed a man in his 40s who was heading to Israel with something in his trousers, which they determined was the result of attempting to smuggle something.

According to the report, in the incident which occurred on December 24, 2018, the man was carrying a 40cm (15.7 inch) boa constrictor snake under his pants.

The report explains that security personnel pulled the passenger to the side for an inspection, and customs officials found the snake, which was being held in a cloth bag under his pants.

Boas are protected and regulated under the Washington Convention on the Protection of Cities and import and export of the reptiles must be declared. The snake was confiscated and given over to animal safety officials. The passenger was issued a fine.
