HaGaon HaRav Elbaz Backs A United Chareidi Party

HaGaon HaRav Reuven Elbaz Shlita, who is a member of the Shas Moetzas Gedolei Torah, is a voice backing unity with the ashkenazi chareidim, despite objections to such a move by HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita, head of the Shas Moetzas Gedolei Torah, and party chairman Aryeh Deri.

The rav is quoted saying, “I back achdus but what can I do if they don’t listen to me”. When asked by the media to detail, Rav Elbaz declined, Ladaat News reports.

A son of Rav Shalom Cohen, Rabbi Yaakov Cohen, reiterates that Shas was formed to restore sephardi glory and identity; and teaming up with the ashkenazi chareidi parties will result in losing that distinct identity Shas has worked so hard to establish.
