Bennett Pledges Not To Enter A Government With Benny Gantz

The New Right party chairman, Minister Naftali Bennet on Monday, February 11, 2019, announced during an interview with Walla News that the next prime minister will be Binyamin Netanyahu. He was asked who he was going to phone to congratulate after elections, PM Netanyahu or the head of the Israeli Resilience Party, Benny Gantz.

Bennet explains that, “From the moment we established the Israeli Resilience Party, the bloc contained 63 mandates and the left-wing 54. In 2009, I turned to Ehud Barak and in 2013, to Yair Lapid and [Tzipi] Livni and afterwards to Livni and [former Labor party leader Yitzchak] Herzog. The elections question is if it will be Bibi and Bennet and Bibi and Gantz”.

During the interview, Bennet added, “Until the establishment of the New Right, the right-wing received 57-58 mandates. From the moment we established the New Right, I took two mandates from Gantz and Lapid. All the parties have to units and everything will be all right, and they will pass the minimum threshold and get to two-digits”.

Bennet proclaimed, “I will never join a government of Benny Gantz because he is a leftist. This is a left-wing and not a right-wing party. At the end, who is the head of a party and speaks of another disengagement and on the Nationality Law, and if it looks like a duck, it is a duck, and in this case, this is a two-headed duck that hasn’t decided if he is right or left”.
