Minister of Finance (Yesh Atid) Yair Lapid has allocated 50 million NIS for Ariel University. 20 million NIS will be transferred following the passage of the state budget and the remainder in 2014. Lapid made the announcement amid opposition from officials in his office.

The funds in question were approved during the previous administration by Minister Yuval Steinitz but Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein announced the funds may not be transferred to the university ahead of general elections.
