Jerusalem Police Arrest A Jerusalem Drug Dealer Buying Narcotics With Forged Prescriptions

Jerusalem police arrested a suspect in a drugstore in the city center with fake narcotics prescriptions with which he purchased the drugs and is suspected of drug trafficking.

The police opened a covert investigation following information received that a person used to come to pharmacies in the center of the city with fake narcotic prescriptions in order to but narcotics.

As the covert activity progressed, police detectives arrested a 42-year-old suspect from Tzur Hadassah on Thursday when he arrived at one of the pharmacies. When searched, police found a large number of forged prescriptions on him.

Police report that he has been forging prescriptions for about a year, using his computer and information of different people and doctors in the mental health field, forging their names and rubber stamps. It is believed he was purchasing narcotics in large quantities to sell them for profit.

The suspect was questioned as aforesaid by the police on suspicion of receiving prescription drugs fraudulently, impersonating another person with the aim of fraud and other offenses. On Monday, the suspect will be brought for another remand, after his detention was extended for the first time on Friday.

The police said that forging medical documents by identifying patients or doctors is a serious offense in itself, but in this case, the suspect acted in order to fraudulently obtain hundreds and thousands of narcotic pills that could cause extreme side effects and extreme health and mental conditions in an illegal manner, allegedly in order to sell them and thereby endanger public health.
