Toddler Struck By Car in Meah Shearim


A two-year-old infant belonging to a Charedi family was injured in a motor vehicle accident in Jerusalem.

The accident occurred on Shivtei Yisroel Street near the entrance to Meah Shearim. A car passing by ran over the infant. The hysterical mother rushed home with her baby and called for emergency medical response there.

Folowing initial treatment at the home of the infant, the child was rushed to Shaare Tzedek hospital for further care and was in moderate condition.

According to report that appeared in Kikar Shabbos news site, the car involved in the hit-and-run was located by police a few hours aftrer the accident. The car was inside the neighborhood on one of the side streets. According to reports the driver apparently did not realize that he had hit anyone.

United Hatzala volunteer doctor Aryeh Jaffe described the scene: “The child was brought up to his parent’s apartment near where the accident occurred. We treated the child there for his injuries providing initial stabilizing treatment before he was transported to Shaare Tzedek Hospital in an intensive care ambulance. The child was conscious and in moderate condition when he was transported.”
